Patient Information
Clear information before, during and after your appointment.
This page provides general information to help patients prepare for an appointment with Dr Keegan Lee. It is not a substitute for individual medical advice, but is intended to make the consultation process clearer and easier to navigate.
Before your appointment
The purpose of the first consultation is to understand your symptoms, examine the affected area, review relevant imaging, and discuss the most appropriate next steps.
Surgery is not assumed to be necessary. In many situations, the first step is to clarify the diagnosis, understand the source of pain, and consider both non-operative and operative options.
It may help to think about
- Where your pain is located and where it travels
- How long symptoms have been present
- What makes symptoms better or worse
- How symptoms affect walking, sleep, work or daily life
- What treatments have already been tried
What to bring
Having the right information available can make the consultation more useful and reduce the need for repeat appointments or investigations.
Referral
Please bring your GP or specialist referral, or confirm that it has been sent through before the appointment.
Imaging
Bring any X-rays, CT scans or MRI scans, including reports. We have access to most radiology portals online, so if you can remember where your scans were performed it will make reviewing your imaging much smoother.
Medication list
Bring a current list of medications, including blood thinners, diabetes medications, pain medications and any allergies.
Past treatment
Bring details of physiotherapy, injections, previous operations, specialist reviews or other treatment already undertaken.
After your appointment
After the consultation, the next step may involve further imaging, non-operative treatment, referral to another clinician, review after a period of observation, or discussion about surgery where appropriate.
A letter will usually be sent back to your referring doctor so that your GP or specialist remains informed about the assessment and plan.
Common next steps
- Further X-ray, CT or MRI imaging
- Physiotherapy or exercise-based management
- Targeted injections where they may help clarify or treat pain
- Follow-up review after treatment or further investigation
- Surgical planning if surgery is considered appropriate

Helpful information to revisit after your consultation.
Consultations can involve a lot of information. It is normal for some of the details to be difficult to remember afterwards, particularly when you are discussing symptoms, imaging, treatment options and possible next steps.
The services section includes helpful links to educational information about your condition and treatment options, including topics that may have been covered during your consultation.
If you are coming back for a follow-up appointment, it can be useful to read widely, speak with family or friends, and write down your questions before your next visit. This helps make sure we can work through the issues that matter most to you.
